With things having temporarily calmed down on the water front, Asha is desperately seeking a new source of amusement. It was not long before she noticed Amy was sitting on the bed hoping to finish some course work which was due in at college the next day. Well, I of course, being the oldest, understand the importance of such work, and respectfully refrained from bothering her. Whilst Asha, who is so head strong, and just wants to play with everything and seek permanent attention, decided that the pen with which Amy was writing seemed like a fun new toy. Without any warning, she jumped on the bed, skidded across Amy’s papers and grabbed the pen, struggling with all her might, using paws and mouth and all her strength, to remove it from Amy’s hand.
I spoke to her in our Bengal fashion, telling her that she was being very rude to interrupt when Amy was trying to complete her work, but my wails appeared to fall on deaf ground, as she continued to fight for the pen, and conveniently took no notice of me whatsoever.
Well, I expected her to receive a telling off, but no, this had now become a game for Amy and was much more fun than college work!!! Mum and Dad told Amy that they thought it was Asha’s way of explaining that college work should be done at a desk, not on the bed, so after a few more minutes of play, Amy gave in and continued her work in the office.
The moral of this story ….. Hmmmm, well, there is mum’s version, which is clever Asha to force Amy to sit and do her work correctly, at a desk, without distractions, (la di daa). Followed, of course, by my version, which is far more obvious and realistic. Asha just decided it was play with a new toy time. Nothing to do with what mum and dad would like to believe. Either way, I guess I have to admit that Asha achieved something that mum and dad could not, which was to get Amy off the bed, and in the correct place to achieve the best work without being disturbed. Hence, proving that you can find good or bad in every situation depending on what you decide you would like the outcome to be.
